MASTER SUITE RESTORATION CAMPAIGN

We at the Pabst Mansion are very pleased to unveil our plans for the restoration of not only one, but two rooms!  The Pabst Mansion’s Master Suite, comprising of Captain and Mrs. Pabst’s upstairs sitting room and their bedroom, is now the focus of a comprehensive restoration that will allow us to restore the rooms and yet provide a beautiful and elegant space for lectures and receptions.  The Master Suite has long been successfully utilized by our organization as a place to extend hospitality to those visiting the Pabst Mansion for special events.  We plan to continue this, but restore the space to further return the Pabst Mansion to its original late-nineteenth century appearance.

Using period photographs of the rooms, our skilled craftsmen will:

  • repair and hand-paint decorative ceiling medallions and cove moldings in both rooms
  • reconstruct the lost oak and cherry platform and railing that once defined the southern end of the sitting room
  • restore and polish marble fireplace hearths
  • recreate the original vivid floral wallpapers
  • restore and polish the oak parquetry floors
  • provide beautiful, yet serviceable new rugs for both rooms.

In the end the Master Suite’s restoration will embody Captain and Mrs. Pabst’s humble beginnings and stand as a showcase of their kind personalities and warm spirits.

Master Suite Restoration Budget

Ceiling Restoration & Painting $88,000
Recreation of Wall Covering $46,000
Floor Refinishing & Rugs $33,000
Bathroom Restoration $84,000
Oak & Cherry Platform $ 54,000
Maintenance Endowment $15,000

Total: $320,000

We hope you will join us as we embark on the restoration of a pair of truly unique rooms within the already magnificent Pabst Mansion!  Please consider a generous gift to the Master Suite Restoration Campaign as we continue our work to make the Pabst Mansion one of America’s finest house museums.
