SENIOR HISTORIAN SPEAKS OUT!
The moment you've all been asking for... For the first time ever,
our resident historian, John Eastberg will be offering a month-long
lecture series on Milwaukee historical topics. While John has
traveled throughout the State giving lectures to eager crowds,
he has not had the opportunity to present these talks in his natural
habitat, otherwise known as the Pabst Mansion. Each lecture will
be complimented with wonderful slides illustrating the topics
discussed. Afterwards, a question and answer period will be given
to allow the attendees to further explore the topic discussed.
* Beginning on April 4, 2006, John will present his now-infamous
"Gone But Not Forgotten: The Lost Homes of Grand Avenue."
This presentation, which originally grew out of a Pabst Mansion
exhibit in 2002, has been greatly expanded with new photos and
historical discoveries.
* The lecture on April 11th will be entitled "The Milwaukee
Beer Barons" and will delve into the private lives of these
families that made Milwaukee famous. Rare photographs from the
private family albums of the Pabsts', Uihleins' and Millers' will
open a fascinating private world to the audience.
* On April 18th a lecture in conjunction with the current "Eight
Days a Week" exhibit. During this slide presentation you
will be introduced to those who served the Pabst family and what
their morning to midnight duties included.
* Finally on April 25th, explore the extensive work of the architectural
firm Ferry & Clas. From the Pabst Mansion to the Milwaukee
Auditorium Building, this prolific and dynamic team of architects
designed many of the buildings that shaped the Milwaukee skyline
at the turn-of-the-century.
Join us for what certainly will be a great opportunity to explore
the architectural and social history of our fair city. Lectures
will begin at 6:30pm sharp until 8:00pm. Limited space available.
Members $15 per lecture or $50 for the series. Non-members $20
per lecture or $70 for the series. Purchase tickets by calling
