Final Respects II
Milwaukee, WI- Newly resurected, THE CAPTAIN AT REST: FINAL RESPECTS
II on display at the Pabst Mansion July 30th through October 31st.
An exploration of the Victorian way of death, Victorian cemetery
architecture and the bountiful use of symbolism that surrounded
both. See a cast iron coffin with viewing glass in a traditional
parlor funeral display. Learn the meaning behind common Victorian
monument carvings and jewelry. View mourning gowns and rare Victorian
dolls in full mourning attire.
If you missed the original Final Respects exhibit the first time
around now is your chance to see all the highlights of the last
installment. If you visited during the original exhibit rest assured
that THE CAPTAIN AT REST: FINAL RESPECTS II has a whole array
of new artifacts and stories to tell you. Don't miss photographic
panels created by noted cemetery photographer Douglas Keister,
author of Stories in Stone: A Field Guide to Cemetery Symbolism
and Iconography and Going Out In Style.
THE CAPTAIN AT REST: FINAL RESPECTS II sponsored in part by a
generous donation from the Milwaukee-Waukesha County Funeral Directors
Association. This exhibit incorporates the time, talent, and expertise
of many local and national individuals and organizations: MATC's
Funeral Services Program (the only one in the state of Wisconsin);
James Augustine, Professor of MATC's Funeral Services Program
and past President of the American Board of Funeral Service Education;

FOREST HOME CEMETERY
Take your own walking tour of Forest Home Cemetery whenever you
like. The grounds are open to the public daily 8:00am to dusk.
Maps are available at the visitors center. Don't miss brewer's
corner where you'll find Pabst, Blatz, and Schlitz.
STORIES IN STONE

Dead men may tell no tales, but the symbols on their tombstones
do. A lecture by Doug Keister on his recently published book Stories
in Stone: A Field Guide to Cemetery Symbolism. Date and time TBA.
The Pabst Mansion is open Monday-Saturday 10:00am-4:00pm and Sunday
noon-4:00pm (Closed Monday mid-January through February). The
Pabst Mansion's admissions are Adults $8, Seniors/Students $7,
Children 6-17 $4, Children under 6 are admitted free. If you have
