Villa Terrace Decorative Arts, built in 1923 by Lloyd Smith of the A O Smith Corporation, is an Italian Renaissance style villa with a spectacular view of Lake Michigan. A lovingly restored sixteenth century style garden cascading down to the lake level is accessible to all.
The Charles Allis Art Museum is a 1911 English Tudor revival home built by the first president of the Allis-Chalmers Company. The graciously charming home and splendid art collection spanning 2000 years were bequeathed to the citizens of Milwaukee and can now be enjoyed by all in fine Edwardian style.
The Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion is the earliest of the three homes. Completed in 1892, it is the finest example of Flemish Renaissance Revival style in America. Frederick Pabst owned the largest brewery in the world at the time he built this 37-room mansion.

SPECIALTY GROUPS TOURS
FRAMED
Tour the Pabst Mansion's fine art collection and experience the 1890's in different way, through eyes of many artists, known and unknown.
The art collection though out the Mansion not only reflects the taste of Captain and Mrs. Pabst but also the overall interests of the Milwaukee art scene in the late 19th century. Many of the pieces are the original works purchased by Frederick Pabst to hang in the Mansion, the brewery and other locations of the Pabst real estate holdings. Captain Pabst had many venues in Milwaukee and across the country that the art works would have been appropriate for and offered decorative subject matter in the settings where they were displayed.
The tour will take guests though the Mansion and highlight the major pieces of art in each room. The paintings and sculptures date from the 1640's to the early 1900's with the main period being the last half of the 1800's. Familiar names such as Bouguereau, De Blaas, Israels, Trentanove, Von Lembach, Verboechoven and more will be seen in Milwaukee's most spectacular setting, the Pabst Mansion.
An artistic excursion for your group can be booked by calling our Director of Visitor Services at 414.931.0808. The cost is $7.00 each for 15 or more persons.

STUDENT GROUPS
Get L.O.S.T. at the Pabst Mansion. Learning On Site Tours for your students are now available! Three permanent offerings based on grade and subject matter have been created:
“Captain Pabst’s House” is ideal for youth in 2nd-4th grades. Introducing students to Captain Pabst, his family, and the Mansion, this tour engages students by encouraging them to compare their family and house to the Pabsts’. Discussions on the similarities and differences in 19th century America highlight this tour!
“The Comforts of Home: The Pabst Mansion and Gilded Age Inventions” is designed for students in 5th and 6th grade. Building on classroom learning at this level regarding the new marvels and inventions of the 19th century, “The Comforts of Home” tour will illustrate the uses of things such as electricity, indoor plumbing, forced air heating systems, telephones, and much more in private residences such as the Pabst Mansion.
Targeting an older audience, students in grades 8th-12th, is “Separate By Design: The Pabst Mansion’s Layout and Class Distinction”. Introducing young adults to the concept of class distinction during the Victorian Era, emphasizing the relationship between household servant and employer. The “Separate By Design” tour will use the Pabst Mansion’s layout and design as an example of how architecture in a 19th century private residence reinforced class distinction.
Learning On Site Tours last approximately one hour. Rates are $3 per student, $6 per adult (1 adult chaperone for every 4 students is admitted free ). For more information or to schedule your L.O.S.T. program, contact our Director of Visitor Services at 414.931.0808.
